The University of Richmond has set a record, receiving more than 10,000 applications for 765 slots in this fall’s freshman class.
By its Jan. 15 deadline, the university had received 10,121 applications, breaking last year’s record of 9,461.
University officials say the new record continues a series of annual increases in applications experienced throughout most of the previous decade.
The 10,000th applicant this year was Linh Vu of Hagerstown, Md., a high school senior at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania.
The university had an total enrollment of 4,349 last fall, of which 3,391 were undergraduates, according to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
