For the second consecutive year, Virginia Business salutes some of the state’s top women in commercial real estate. With many commercial sectors still lagging, these profiles inspire and inform.
There’s the woman who co-founded a commercial real estate firm with her husband. It was so successful that when Thalhimer went looking for a toehold in the burgeoning Fredericksburg/Stafford County market in 2008, it merged with this woman’s company. Farther up Interstate 95, one of Northern Virginia’s most productive female power brokers shares her secrets of success. Meanwhile in Virginia Beach, a real estate partner volunteers her expertise to help a nonprofit build affordable housing. And from Central Virginia comes the story of a real estate veteran and athlete who is fighting cancer with the same perseverance that closed major deals.
The editorial staff of Virginia Business selected these four women, because they demonstrate smarts, creativity, leadership and tenacity — traits needed to survive in today’s uncertain market. With positive signs sprouting this year in leasing and sales, who knows, good times might be on the way. Until then, enjoy the profiles on some of Virginia’s top real estate women.
