Many of tomorrow’s hottest jobs will involve working with either computers or patients.

As technology advances and the giant baby-boom generation ages, demand for jobs such as computer engineers and home health-care aides is expected to explode. In fact, the demand for home health aides is expected to grow 79.8 percent over the next seven years, according to the Virginia Employment Commission. For network systems analysts, demand will increase almost as much at 69.2 percent.

This chart, complied with information from the Virginia Employment Commission, shows the fastest-growing occupations by 2018. Only occupations that are expected to create at least 1,000 new jobs are included.
