The third annual Governor’s Conference on Energy gets underway tomorrow on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and runs through Thursday, Oct. 4. This year’s conference at the Greater Richmond Convention Center brings together leaders in the energy industry. The program will examine energy in the global marketplace, and look at ways that a global context could influence Virginia and America’s domestic energy security.
Tuesday’s opening panel includes experts who will discuss the balance between energy, the environment and the economy. On Wednesday, the luncheon keynote speaker is Stan Wise, Commissioner of the Georgia Public Service Commission, the state where the first new domestic nuclear plant in decades is under construction. He will speak on the future of nuclear energy.
Gov. Bob McDonnell will address the closing luncheon on Thursday. Other speakers and moderators include Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, Secretary and Executive Director of the Southern States Energy Board, Ken Nemeth; and Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Michael Krancer.
