What unique challenges do you face as CFO of a foundation?
“Stewarding money for a $300 million foundation is challenging due to tough economic times compounded with new legislation related to the accounting for endowments. We are faced with times of increasing disclosure requirements related to accounting as well as donors, with limited resources and staff to provide for the increasing demands. Furthermore, to keep administrative costs low, I often wear multiple hats, including human resource responsibilities and assisting our outsourced IT department.”
