Stock index continues rebound
August 27, 2009 4:00 AMThe Virginia Business Stock Index continued to gain ground in July, rising 43.30 points or 9.66 percent.
That performance was better than three standard market measurements. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 8.58 percent during the month, while the S&P 500 Index was up 7.41 percent and the Nasdaq Composite increased 7.82 percent.
Thirty-eight of the 50 stocks on the Virginia index rose while 11 were down and one, General Dynamics, was unchanged.
