A bill that would require all state contractors to prove employment eligibility of their workers passed a Senate committee Monday.

The bill would prohibit Virginia from granting work to a contractor who couldn’t prove all employees were legal workers under federal law. The Senate has already passed a similar version of the legislation.

The bill now heads to the full chamber.
