Scientific Research Corp. opens Chesapeake office
- June 8, 2011
An advanced electronics engineering company has opened a Chesapeake office, its first in Virginia. Atlanta-based Scientific Research Corp. (SRC) leased 12,000 square feet in the Battlefield Corporate Park in Chesapeake’s Greenbrier area. The decision to put an office in Hampton Roads, which will serve as the company’s business hub there, created 82 new jobs. Altogether, SRC, which has U.S. Department of Defense and Coast Guard clients in the area, employs about 150 people in Hampton Roads.
Locally, the company provides engineering, technical, operations, training and program management support. “The Tidewater area is home to many of our important customers. The combination of attractive business conditions, a tremendous supply of highly trained individuals with prior military experience and a convenient location from which to support our customers made Chesapeake a natural location to host our operation,” SRC CEO Michael Watt said in a statement.
Founded in 1988, SRC has five other major offices, including one in Washington, D.C., and employs 1,200 people worldwide.
