The U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Appalachian Regional Commission have awarded Southwest Virginia’s ‘Round the Mountain artisan network an $815,000 grant.
‘Round the Mountain will act as the fiscal agent for the administration of the innovation grant, which is to be used boost economic development in the region’s four cities and 19 counties.
The grant will support outdoor recreation, downtown revitalization and small business development.
Sen. Mark Warner, who started the ‘Round the Mountain network as governor in 2004, said in a statement, “This competitive grant should serve as a catalyst for additional private investment and job creation.”
