Virginia has opened a new office to facilitate public-private partnerships for transportation projects in Virginia.
The Office of Transportation Public-Private Partnerships (OTP3 office) is tasked with developing a statewide program for public-private partnerships under the state’s Public-Private Transportation Act (PPTA) of 1995. It is located in Richmond.
The office is designed to streamline the PPTA process to ensure on-time delivery of projects, encourage private competition and improve efficiency. It will be the primary point of contact for public-private projects for all transportation modes in Virginia.
Charlie Kilpatrick, chief deputy commissioner of the Virginia Department of Transportation will be interim OTP3 director.
