Northrop Grumman gets $77 million contract on laser transmitter assemblies
August 12, 2010 1:18 PMThe Department of Defense is awarding a contract valued at $77.6 million to Northrop Grumman for the procurement of Guardian laser transmitter assemblies for installation on helicopters. The assembly system is designed to protect helicopters and some fixed-wing aircraft from man-portable, air-defense systems. Nearly 10 percent of the work will be done in Blacksburg. The contract, which was not competitively procured, is expected to be completed in August 2012.
