S & W Market at 16 West Marketplace in downtown Roanoke will hold a grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The European-style downtown grocery store offers fresh, local, organic products and gourmet foods as well as craft brews and specialty wines. Eventually, the store plans to offer hot daily specials for to-go dining.
The owners, Mark Linson and Amelia Glaser, also are coowners of Café 16.
S & W Market is the latest tenant at 16 West Marketplace, which caters to people who live, work and frequent downtown Roanoke. Located in the former S&W Cafeteria at 16 West Church Avenue, the historic building has been restored to its original art-deco look under the direction of Spectrum Design, a Roanoke-based architectural and engineering firm. Other tenants include Carilion’s RAC Xpress, Fleda A. Ring Artworks, Core Chiropractic and Wellness Center and eight apartments.
