New apartment projects on tap for Manchester in Richmond
August 18, 2011 5:29 PMTwo developers have purchased land to build new apartment projects in Richmond’s Manchester area, which has been attracting lots of new development south of the James River. Dominion Realty bought a 1.8-acre parcel at 901 McDonough St. and plans to build a $15 million,188-unit complex there. It purchased the land for $2 million. Based out of Raleigh, N.C., Dominion also is redeveloping the Hotel John Marshall in downtown Richmond into a residential/retail project. A second company, Ravin Partners, based out of Charlotte and Raleigh, bought a two-acre parcel at 700 Cowardin St. at the foot of the Lee Bridge. It plans a 200-unit complex that would be called Manchester on the James.
