Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell today named Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, Richmond businessman Robert Sledd and longtime staff member Janet Polarek to posts in his administration.
Bolling will become chief jobs creation officer, a unpaid position announced during the recent election campaign. Sledd was named secretary of commerce and trade, and Polarek was appointed secretary of the commonwealth.
Bolling was elected to his second term as lieutenant governor in November. In his cabinet post, he will coordinate economic development and job creation initiatives.
Sledd is the former CEO and chairman of Performance Food Group, a former Fortune 500 food distribution company which was sold to private equity companies last year. He is currently managing partner of Pinnacle Ventures LLC.
Polarek has worked to McDonnell in various capacities for more than 10 years. She was director of administration and chief of staff in the attorney general’s office during McDonnell’s term and is currently deputy director of his transition team.
