Specialty insurer Markel Corp. announced that its Markel Ventures subsidiary has acquired Solbern LLC, a Fairfield, N.J., manufacturer of food processing equipment.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Markel Ventures handles investment activities of Markel.
