Lumos Networks Corp. has named Timothy G. Biltz its chief executive officer.

The fiber-based provider of voice, data and IP-based telecommunication services, which is based in Waynesboro, was spun off from NTELOS Holdings Corp. in October 2011. Biltz has been on the NTELOs board of directors since December 2006.

Biltz was formerly chairman of iPCS Inc. and chief operating officer of SpectraSite Inc., a publicly traded wireless and broadcast signal tower company. He held many positions at Vanguard Cellular Systems, including executive vice president and chief operating officer.

James A. Hyde had been serving as interim CEO of Lumos since the spin off.

Lumos also announced that Michael B. Moneymaker retired as president of Lumos networks and as a member of the board of directors.
