The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has approved a rezoning on a 6-3 vote for a new business park. Stonewall Secure Business Park will eventually house 2.9 million square feet of data centers as well as a million square feet for other business uses, including office space and warehousing. Stonewall Creek LLC plans to develop the park on 194 acres north of the Dulles Greenway near Leesburg. The board rezoned what is primarily a transitional green space to a planned development industrial park. The county’s Planning Commission rejected the developer’s proposal in May, noting that its density and scale was not in keeping with a transitional area between western Loudoun County — which is rural — and eastern Loudoun, which is suburban. Stonewall Creek plans a 75-foot buffer between the business park and the community. At build out, the project is projected to generate more than $50 million in direct tax revenue for the county.
