Legislators, lobbyists team up against cancer

RICHMOND – State legislators and lobbyists will battle it out on the basketball court Tuesday night to benefit Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Cancer Center.

The 2013 Capitol Square Basketball Classic will take place at the VCU Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Members of Gov. Bob McDonnell’s office will play against the lobbyists, and the House will take on the Senate – all for a good cause. The goal is to raise $15,000 for cancer research. So far, more than $8,000 has been donated.

You can make a donation at the game or by visiting http://support-events.vcu.edu/hoopsformassey. Proceeds go toward cancer research. The Capitol Square Basketball Classic raised more than $10,000 last year.
