Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States has opened its new Tysons Corner Medical Center. The 200,000-square-foot center offers a broad menu of medical services and created about 106 new jobs.

“Our new Tysons Corner Medical Center … represents critical job growth,” Marilyn Kawamura, president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States Inc., said in a statement. “This new facility is our largest of 11 medical centers in Virginia and is a tangible example of Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to the communities we serve throughout Virginia.”

Located at 8008 Westpark Drive in McLean, the six-story facility has 128 exam rooms, 84 provider offices and employs 500 physicians and staff. More than 20 medical specialties are located under one roof, including several new services for Kaiser Permanente members in Virginia such as interventional radiology, nuclear medicine (non-cardiac), and peritoneal dialysis. Services available to members 24/7 nclude laboratory, pharmacy, radiological services and urgent care.

A differentiating element of the Tysons Corner facility is a 43-bed, clinical observation unit that’s open around the clock.  The unit allows physicians to provide care for acute illnesses. For instance, a member suffering from an asthma attack could receive treatment and be monitored in the facility overnight.

The new center also offers a meditation garden and Wi-Fi in all patient waiting areas.
