Arlington-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts is opening its first managed hotel in India.
The hotel real estate investor and management company is opening the 115-room Four Points by Sheraton Jaipur, City Square, in October. Jaipur, the capital of the Indian state Rajasthan, is a popular tourist destination. Economic development has grown rapidly in the city, attracting more business travelers. In addition, an international airport opened in June.
The four-story hotel will be built near the city’s commercial area, close to tourist attractions and within walking distance of the city’s popular shopping and dining area.
“With the opening of this hotel, we will add a sixth country outside of the United States, our first in the Asia Pacific region, to our management portfolio as we continue to extend our reach internationally,” Interstate Chairman and CEO Thomas F. Hewitt said in a statement.
The hotel will be managed by the company’s joint venture in India, JHM Interstate Hotels India. The hotel is the first project developed by Duet India Hotels Ltd., a British real estate investment group that Interstate has an equity interest in. The agreement allows JHM Interstate Hotels India the first opportunity to manage hotels that Duet develops or buys. Duet plans to develop more than 20 hotels over the next few years.
