House bill could require workers to speak English
February 12, 2008 8:51 AM

The House of Delegates passed a bill Monday that would allow employers to fire an employee who spoke a language other than English at work.

The legislation would protect employers from discrimination lawsuits if employees speak another language in violation of workplace policies.

The House today will consider a bill that would require state contractors not to hire illegal immigrants.

This is a great beginning. The USA was built on English as our language. I get really upset when I go into a Business in VA. and the people that I am trying to buy from can not understand or speak English.

When someone comes to the USA it is my belief that they should try to accept out way of life instead of tryint to force their country on the USA. If they like their country ways so much then they should go back to their country. If they want to stay in the USA they should accept the ways of the USA and understand it is our right to have a country where everyone speaks a language that everyone speaks, I the USA that Language is English.
