Hilton Worldwide proposes a Waldorf Astoria for Old Post Office site in Washington

Hilton Worldwide has oined a host of other developers in proposing a project for the Old Post Office Pavilion on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. According to The Washington Post, the hotel chain wants to develop the landmark into a 245-room Waldorf Astoria hotel with four restaurants and high-end shops. Waldorf is the Hilton’s top luxury brand.
The U.S. General Services Administration began soliciting proposals to redevelop the property in March. It plans to make a selection by Nov. 17. The Post reported that more than a half a dozen companies have submitted proposals, including Trump Hotel Collection, JBG Cos., and Monument Realty. Hilton is proposing its project as a joint venture with Metropolitan Partnership Ltd., a developer based in Reston that has experience with luxury retailers such as Tiffany & Co.
