hhgregg opens two stores in Richmond
November 19, 2009 2:38 PM

Appliance and electronics retailer hhgregg opened its first stores in Virginia today.  The stores are located in the Short Pump area in Henrico County and at Chesterfield Town Center in Chesterfield County.

“The opening of these new stores demonstrates our commitment to the mid-Atlantic region and will give Richmond area residents a convenient place to shop for all their electronics needs, just in time for the holidays,” Jeff Pearson, hhgregg’s vice president of marketing said in a statement.

Besides Richmond, the Indianapolis-based company is preparing to enter the Hampton Roads market. It has signed two leases there. hhgregg plans to open stores at the former Linens’ n Things building, a 37,500-square-foot building on Virginia Beach Boulevard in Virginia Beach, and in a former Circuit City Space of 32,653 square feet on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News, according to Thalhimer, which handled lease negotiations.
