Cox Auto Trader/Auto Mart, an automotive classified business, cut 40 positions from its Norfolk office and moved
another 10 workers on its Spanish-language Web site to Atlanta. The moves come in response to business and economic
pressures. The company was once part of Trader Publishing Co., a joint venture between Landmark Communications Inc.
of Norfolk and Cox Enterprises in Atlanta. The business was split in 2006 with Cox taking the print and online

Dataline Consulting Services, an IT consulting services company, has become PLANIT Technology Group. The move was
made to distinguish it from its former federal services unit Dataline Inc., which was sold to DLN Holdings LLC in

The owner of the Dollar Tree chain stores has created a new holding company, Dollar Tree Inc., to streamline its
corporate structure. The previous corporate parent, Dollar Tree Stores Inc., will remain an entity under the
holding company. The Chesapeake-based company’s business operations and subsidiaries will remain the same. ((The

Geeks on Call Holdings Inc., a Norfolk-based franchisor of on-site computer assistance, raised $3 million through a
private placement of stock. Geeks went public in February through a reverse merger with an already public startup.
Its shares trade on the Over the Counter Bulletin Board under the symbol GOCH. (The Virginian-Pilot)
Lillian Vernon Corp., a Virginia Beach-based retailer of low-cost personalized gifts, filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection. A weak retail environment and increasing costs finally forced the company’s move. Just
before filing for bankruptcy the company laid off 185 workers, about half of its year-round work force. (The
