Virginia Wine Lover, a quarterly magazine, will publish its first issue in May. The magazine, which will focus on the Virginia wine industry, will be published by Randy Thompson of VistaGraphics Inc. in Virginia Beach and Frank Britt of Britt Marketing & Public Relations in Lynchburg. Patrick Evans-Hylton will be the editor. (News release)

Filtration Specialties Inc., a Virginia Beach-based manufacturer of high-performance filtration media for use in high temperature applications, will invest $1.5 million in a Mecklenburg County facility to manufacture fiberglass felt. The project will create 10 jobs. Virginia competed with Massachusetts for the investment. (News release)

Norfolk-based Landmark Communications has hired investment banks JP Morgan and Lehman Brothers to explore the sale of part or all of the company’s assets. JP Morgan is helping the company look at sale of The Weather Channel, and Lehman Brothers is exploring the sale of its other media properties. (The Virginian-Pilot)

KBS Real Estate Investment Trust bought the Patrick Henry Corporate Center in Newport News for $18.6 million. The four-story building holds 99,000 square feet of Class A office space on a five-acre site. It is currently 100 percent occupied. In a separate development, CB Richard Ellis has been retained to continue as leasing and management agent. (News release)
