Hampton Roads For the Record

Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, and the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, are jointly funding a clinical research manager at a cost of $100,000 to help facilitate sharing of research between the two schools. The institutions believe the arrangement could help increase the amount of grant awards. Research applying laboratory results to patients will be their focus. (The Virginian-Pilot)

Northrop Grumman Newport News has been awarded an $85 million contract option from the Navy for planning, engineering and logistics support on Los Angeles, Ohio, Seawolf and Virginia-class submarines. The option continues work begun in 2006 and brings the total contract award to $248 million. (News release)

Divaris Property Management Corp. won the rights to manage Freedom Plaza, a 20-000-squrare-foot shopping center, owned by NAFT Inc., at Godwin Boulevard and Burnett Way in Suffolk. (News release)

Baylor Enterprises bought a two-story, 16,000-squre-foot office building on Butte Street in Norfolk from Robert E. Upton Jr. for $2.3 million. The building has been leased by the Norfolk Community Services Board. (The Virginian-Pilot)

Oceana Associates sold a two-story, Class B office building on Viking Drive in Virginia Beach to Gateway Executive Center LLC, for $4.1 million. The 32,000-square-foot building, situated near Lynnhaven Parkway and Interstate 264, is 100 percent leased. (News release)
