The board of Rappahannock Goodwill Industries has approved the $3.3 million purchase of an 80,000-square-foot building at Lee’s Hill in Spotsylvania County. The two-story building is the former showroom and offices for Gallahan’s Furniture. The building has been vacant for three years, following the bankruptcy of the furniture store. RGI plans to move its offices on Caroline and Princess Anne streets in Fredericksburg to the new facility by 2013.  It also will house a new Goodwill Store, a Goodwill outlet and transportation hub.  Woody Van Valkenburgh, president and CEO, said in a statement that the relocation is the beginning of an expanded mission for Goodwill. “Moving many of our offices to one location will have a dramatic improvement on our operation. Even more exciting is the potential we will have to provide office space at a deeply discounted rate to other not-for-profits, as well as public or private organizations, which have similar visions and missions as Goodwill.” He expects the project to take several years to complete.
