General Dynamics receives $172 million Navy contract

General Dynamics Electric Boat has received a $171.8 million contract to provide lead-yard services for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-class nuclear submarines.
Electric Boat is a subsidiary of Falls Church defense contractor General Dynamics.
Electric Boat will update drawings and data for each Virginia-class submarine throughout its construction and perform research and development to evaluate new technology being inserted into the carriers.
The contract has a potential value of $881 million through 2014 if all options are exercised.
