Furniture companies to create jobs in Martinsville
April 29, 2009 9:18 AMFurniture companies American of Martinsville and Barcalounger Home are consolidating, creating an additional 94 jobs in Henry County.
American currently employs 121 people at its manufacturing plant. Under the agreement, the company must invest $1.4 million at its Redd Level plant in Henry.
The move is bad news for Rocky Mount, N.C., where Barcalounger will close its plant that employees 140 people. Those employees will have the opportunity to apply for jobs at the Henry plant.
