Regent University said Monday that it has signed a letter of intent with Atlanta-based West Paces Hotel Group to oversee The Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach. The West Paces Hotel Group is headed by Horst Schulze, former president and COO of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. It specializes in operating hotels in distinctive markets, including The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.
“We are excited to be in discussions with Regent University and the promise of providing hospitality standards that will be a source of pride for the university,” Schulze said in a statement. “… We plan to combine the best of the past with our operational strengths to redefine operation and service processes and, thus, achieve a superior level of excellence.”
The transition in management is expected to occur on or about May 1.
Owned by Regent University since 2000, The Founders Inn and Spa has 240 guestrooms and suites and a new $5 million full-service spa.
