CoStar Group in Washington, D.C., reports that an undisclosed tenant in the defense IT sector has signed a seven-year lease for 103,000 square feet in the office building under construction at 7770 Backlick Road. The building is Corporate Office Properties Trust’s first project at the Patriot Ridge Office Park in Springfield.
When complete, the nine-story structure will offer 240,565 square feet of space. The building’s site is adjacent to the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency visitor gate and Fort Belvoir. The new tenant’s lease includes floors six through eight and all but 2,000 square feet of the basement.
According to CoStar, the build-out of the space is scheduled to begin in May — four months before the tenant moves in. Derrick Boegner brokered the deal for COPT, while CBRE represented the tenant.
