Equity Residential expands portfolio in Washington, D.C.

Equity Residential, a Chicago-based company that owns, develops and operates apartment communities in many of the country’s top growth markets, is expanding its portfolio in the Washington, D.C. area. According to the Washington Business Journal, the company recently acquired a nine-story building near the White House with 446 efficiency units and 110 one-bedroom apartments for $95 million. Equity also bought the Clarendon Apartments on N. Herndon Street in Arlington. The 12-story highrise building includes apartments, townhomes and retail space.
