Dublin Volvo workers still on strike
February 11, 2008 9:49 AMWorkers at the Volvo Trucks North America plant in Dublin have entered their second week on strike.
Workers at the plant, Volvo’s only North American manufacturer of its heavy-duty trucks, began striking at midnight on Feb. 1 when their contract expired. About 2,600 employees of the plant are part of the United Auto Workers Local 2069.
The union failed to reach an agreement on a new contract throughout negotiations in January. About 95 percent of union workers voted on Jan. 28 to start the strike.
