First his organization bought one of Virginia’s best-known wineries, the Kluge Estate property just outside Charlottesville. Now Trump Hotel Collection wants to transform the historic Old Post Office in Washington, D.C., into a 300-room luxury hotel. According to a story in Capital Business, a business publication of The Washington Post, the New York-based lodging company bearing Donald Trump’s name is one of the companies that has submitted a proposal to redevelop the historic property on Pennsylvania Avenue. The proposal calls for a hotel with a conference center, spa and museum. The U.S. General Services Administration started taking proposals for the historic building in March as part of a national effort to sell properties that are underutilized. The deadline for submissions was July 20.
