Dominion Virginia Power sending workers to New York and New Jersey
November 02, 2012 9:41 AMDominion Virginia Power workers are heading to New York and New Jersey today to help in restoration efforts following Hurricane Sandy.
The company is sending 1,500 workers including linemen, tree trimmers, storm damage patrollers and underground cable workers.
Using a process called “mutual aid,“ utilities that need help are matched up with available workers who have the appropriate skills.
“This is the largest deployment of mutual aid resources in our company’s history,“ said Paul D. Koonce, chief executive officer of Dominion Virginia Power in a statement.
Dominion Virginia Power also is sending its Mobile Command Center, bucket trucks and supporting vehicles.
