Dominion improves outage information
- September 1, 2009
Dominion Resources has created an interactive online map and added services at its call centers to help customers receive up-to-date information on power outages.
The outage map allows customers to find estimated times that service will be restored. It also shows detailed locations of current outages and how many customers have been affected. The map can be found at www.dom.com by using the key word “outage.”
In addition, Dominion has added call center services. Dominion will now call customers who reported outages if the original estimated restoration takes longer than first estimated. In addition, customers can choose whether to receive updated calls 24 hours a day or between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. The number is (888) 667-3000.
“While our goal is to keep the lights on and restore power as quickly and safely as possible if it does go out — we recognize that accurate, up-to-date information is extremely important to our customers in the event of a service disruption,” said Rodney Blevins, vice president, Electric Distribution, in a statement. “Knowledge may not be as good as ‘power,’ but it helps customers better manage the situation.”
