Dominion Resources Inc. and BP Alternative Energy North America Inc. announced Monday that they have agreed to jointly build, own and operate wind projects in Virginia.
Potential locations for wind projects were not disclosed, except to say they would be placed where there are “excellent wind resources” to meet electricity needs of Dominion customers in Virginia and northeast North Carolina.
Dominion Chairman Thomas F. Ferrell II said the projects would help meet Virginia’s goal of having 12 percent of its electricity come from renewable sources.
Dominion and BP are already working jointly on the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm in Benton County, Ind., which is expected to produce 750 megawatts.
