Only 19 percent of workers take a lunch break away from their desks, according to a study by Fairfax-based Right Management.
The survey found that 39 percent of employees say they typically take a lunch break but eat at their desk, while only 19 percent almost always take a lunch break away.
Fourteen percent of respondents said they take a lunch break from time to time and 28 percent rarely take any sort of lunch break.
The survey included interviews with 1,023 North American workers.
“We might infer that far fewer employees are feeling comfortable enough with their work loads and demands to actually take time away to enjoy breaks for meals,“ said Ron Sims, Talent Management Practice Leader at Right Management.
