Developers drop stadium proposal for Shockoe Bottom
June 23, 2009 4:02 PMDevelopers have dropped a proposal to build a stadium and surrounding development in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Raleigh, N.C.-based Highwoods Properties told the newspaper the project had been doomed by the debate over whether to build a new stadium or renovate the current Diamond.
Highwoods Properties said that a group of investors’ failure to buy a minor-league baseball team for the area changed the way baseball would return to Richmond. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
