Data center leasing picks up in Northern Virginia
- April 30, 2012
Washington, D.C., data center developer DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) reports that it has signed up new tenants for more than 18 megawatts of data center space at its new ACC6 data center in Ashburn. Two of the leases, at ACC6 Phase I, totaled 9.75 MW or 48,984 square feet of finished data center space. One lease for 8.67 MW began in the second quarter, and the other 1.08 MW lease will begin in the third quarter.
In its first quarter earnings statement filed last week, DuPont said it also has started the development of ACC6 Phase II, which is 67 percent preleased. Completion of that project is expected in late 2012.
Year-to-date, the company said it has signed six leases at its properties totaling 23.2 MW and 116,302 raised square feet of space with an average lease term of 12.5 years and a contract value of $600 million.
