Danville IKEA plant to open today

Swedish manufacturer IKEA will open its North America manufacturing center in Danville today.

The 980,000-square-foot manufacturing center employs about 175 people, which will expand to 300 by the end of 2009, according to The Associated Press The company says the plant could expand to 800 employees over the next 10 to 15 years.

Swedwood North America, a subsidiary of IKEA, will hold a celebration today attended by Gov. Timothy M. Kaine.

I congratulate IKEA for opening manufacturing center in Danville giving jobs to well deserving Americans. I hope increase in shipping costs will bring back more jobs to USA.
