Falls Church-based CSC has received three task order modifications worth $118 million to add and modernize virtual air flight simulators at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence in Ft. Rucker, Ala.
Under the task orders, CSC will provide four virtual flight training devices and upgrade three existing devices. This will allow the Army to increase student pilot training by 25 percent.
“Army aviators are not only receiving superior training, but they are doing so at a cost savings of more than eight-to-one over live training,” Randy Cash, vice president and general manager of CSC’s Huntsville Alabama Operations, said in a statement. “In addition, advanced simulation training is helping make students combat ready up to 100 days faster.”
The task orders were awarded under the Flight School XXI indefinitely-delivery contract, which CSC received in 2003. It includes a six-month base period with 19 one-year options.
