City not paying bills to partnership
February 21, 2008 9:47 AM

Richmond hasn’t been paying its bills to a regional economic development group, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The city has not paid the Greater Richmond Partnership for eight months and now owes the organization $293,000, the newspaper reported today. The partnership markets the Richmond region to business prospects. It receives financial support from the city and Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties.
Richmond Mayor L. Douglas Wilder has made no secret of his displeasure with the partnership during the past three years, saying that city doesn’t get enough in return for its $390,000 annual contribution to the organization. When questioned by the newspaper, he would not say if or when the city would pay its bills.
