Centra, Danville Regional file competing proposals
October 28, 2010 6:00 AMHealth systems cannot always move into a new geographic area without raising some hackles.
Lynchburg-based Centra Health, a three-hospital system, has filed a certificate of public need application to open a surgery center with diagnostic imaging services in Danville, home to Danville Regional Medical Center.
Danville Regional has filed its own application to add diagnostic imaging services, resulting in a heated debate since Centra announced its plan in January.
Since then, the two organizations have lobbed charges back and forth.
A decision on the applications is expected early next year.
