- January 22, 2010
Richmond-based CarMax Inc., the country’s largest retailer of used cars, wants to hire 600 people in locations across the country, including 77 in Virginia. While most positions are in sales, the company also has openings in service operations, the business office and purchasing. Full and part-time jobs are available.
The openings are part of the company’s usual hiring as it gears up for the spring and summer car-buying season.
“At a time when unemployment is high and people may be thinking about a career change, we are proud to be offering quality jobs that offer training, development and excellent benefits …,” Carmax CEO Tom Folliard said in a statement.
In Virginia, 39 sales consultants will be hired. Other jobs include reconditioning associates, mechanical associates, detailers, sales managers in training, operations managers in training, business office associates, traditional technicians and buyers associates.
CarMax was just named for the sixth year as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune magazine.
