Atomic Axis, a mobile solutions company based in Austin, Texas, said Tuesday that it is opening an office in Blacksburg. The new satellite operation, which will be located downtown at TechPad, is expected to create 30 new jobs during the next three years.
“Establishing an office in Blacksburg is a strategic move for our company,“ Marcus Turner, chief technology officer of Atomic Axis, said in a statement. “When deciding on a location, we found it to be a place where people want to live, collaborate with forward thinking institutions and contribute within a strong technical community.”
Founded in 2011, Atomic Axis focuses on mobile solutions across platforms including iOS, Android, Windows and mobile web.
The Montgomery County Economic Development Department worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, New River Valley Economic Development Alliance and the Virginia Department of Business Assistance to secure the project for Montgomery County. Atomic Axis evaluated communities in three other states – including Texas, Oregon and Georgia — before selecting Blacksburg for its new operations.
“Atomic Axis is the kind of innovative, leading-edge company that is a perfect fit for Montgomery County,” said Jim Politis, chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. “The company can leverage local talent, and its decision to locate an office here only reinforces our reputation as a growing technology center.”
