Appalachian Power rates increase 19.3 percent
December 11, 2008 3:25 PMAppalachian Power’s rates will increase 19.3 percent over the previous base rates, according to the Martinsville Bulletin.
Customers’ electricity bills will go down, however, because the State Corporation Commission allowed the power company to start charging a higher rate while the commission considered its rate increase request.
An average residential customer’s bill will go from an estimated $93.95 under the short-term ate to $90.53. Before the interim rate increase, customers would have paid $77.42.
The company plans to refund customers the extra they paid during the interim rate hike. (Martinsville Bulletin)
