Altarum Institute, a nonprofit health systems research and consulting organization based out of Michigan, is relocating its Northern Virginia office to a 34,007-square-foot space in a multitenant building at 2000 Duke Street in Alexandria. UGL Services in Washington, D.C., a division of UGL Limited, represented the institute and announced the deal Wednesday.
Faced with an expiring lease in an office situated on three contiguous floors in a location off of I-395, Altarum hired Senior Vice President Brian Liss of the UGL Services’ D.C. office to find a new location with proximity to public transportation. Altarum wanted to consolidate its operations into a single floor, with a more efficient layout.
After touring properties in Alexandria and Arlington County, Altarum said it narrowed the field to five options. 2000 Duke Street, a Class A, 155,337-square-foot multi-tenant building constructed in 1997, won out, because it was within walking distance of the King Street Metro Station and a Virginia Rail Express station. The company plans to move this October.
TIAA-CREF, owner of the Duke Street property, was represented by David Goldstein and Yorke Allen of Jones Lang LaSalle. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
