Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open its first Washington, D.C., location in the One Loudoun development in Loudoun County. The $8.5 million, 34,000-square foot-project also represents the first retail deal for the downtown portion of One Loudoun, a 358-acre, mixed-use community. Construction is expected to begin this spring with a projected opening in spring 2013. The Texas-based chain already has a location in Winchester.

Alamo Drafthouse combines in-theatre dining, drinks, films and events under one roof. “This type of mixed-entertainment venue is rare is Loudoun County, and we’re thrilled to bring such a unique experience to the One Loudoun Community,” Bill May, vice president of Miller and Smith, said in a statement. Miller & Smith is developing One Loudoun in a joint venture with North America Sekisui House LLC (NASH) and its retail partner, Potomac Development Group LLC.  Development plans for the project include a total of 1,040 residential homes, 702,000 square feet of retail and 3 million square feet of office space, surrounded by about 50 acres of public land and miles of walking trails.
