Advertising agency Modea of Blacksburg plans to expand its operations in Montgomery County and build a new corporate headquarters building there, creating 200 new jobs.

Modea will spend $10 million to build its headquarters and expand operations at the former Blacksburg Middle School.

Virginia competed with Illinois, North Carolina and Texas for the project.

“We are thrilled to be able to locate our headquarters in downtown Blacksburg, one of the most well balanced places to live in the country,” Aaron Herringon, co-founder of Modea, said in a statement. “This long-term commitment will allow Modea to take our agency to the next level.”

The company may be eligible to receive a major business facility job tax credit.
